We send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1117 giving in sketch form a scheme for a battery box carried in the rear portion of the frame. The box is carried at two points from the tubular cross member opposite the rear spring pivots and at one point from a special cross member which is bolted to the side members of the frame just where they begin to turn up to pass over the rear axle.

It is intended that there shall be only the one battery box shewn, with no inner casings. As we are asking for separate cells to the battery with bolted connections, the cells can be packed into the one battery box at our own Works, and connected up.

This scheme requires setting out with a view to finding out the permissible dimensions of the battery box and junction box. This latter place is fixed in a position where it is not accessible until the battery has been dropped. When the battery has been dropped, the junction box cover can be taken off and the battery disconnected from the frame conductors.

The process of dropping the battery box is easily accomplished by releasing the three swivel bolts which hold it up to the cross members. The conductors to the frame circuits are made sufficiently long to allow/the box being dropped, and slack in these conductors when the box is in its correct position is prevented from causing trouble, by clipping the conductors (Contd.)
