BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X2628 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG1.3.24. X4261 (struck through) X2628 With reference to the attached standardisation sheet. Our report attached answers queries (1), (3) and (4). As regards query (2) - it is impossible to reply to this until we have had considerable experience with stiffer springs. The std. sheet allows for 20% stronger springs both on the front and rear. The modification of stiffer springs which will be necessary when we fit front wheel brakes, will only apply to the front springs; the rear springs will remain as at present. At the present time we change springs if they are more than 5% stronger than our specification. This limit has been worked to for a number of years. We consider that we ought to expect cars which are used in countries like Australia and Poland to have stiffer springs than the cars which are used primarily as a town carriage.
