W.A. Robotham, Esq.,

DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

With reference to your letter of 16th March, we are afraid that the wheels which we are having built with the 3.62 rims must be very nearly finished by now and, therefore, we would suggest that if you would like to try a wider rim, we would have to make other wheels for you.

You mention 4½" rim in your letter. As you probably know, the old designation for the 3.25 rim was 4½" and, therefore, I assume that what you would like to have is a rim 4½" between the flanges. This would have to be a special Well Base rim as the widest rim made at present in 17" and over is the 4.00 rim.(4" between flanges).

We are afraid that if the 6.00 tyre was fitted on a rim 4.5" between the flanges, the tyre would be distorted to such a degree that some troubles might develop but we could tell more about this by testing it here and, if you feel that you would like this tried out, we will be glad to try and obtain the necessary rims.

We have had a letter from E.R. Hall to-day and Mr. Young is seeing him in London and will discuss this matter with him.

Meantime, we will let the 6.00/17 tyres go through to you fitted on the wheels having the 3.62 rims.

Yours faithfully,
INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD.
