To DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM R. {Sir Henry Royce} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} LE CANADELHenry Royce's French residence. c. to CJ. BJ. Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to RG. {Mr Rowledge} Mr. Claremont. X8420 R1/M8.2.26. BRAKES ADJUSTMENT. X. 8420 X.5940 It is possible, and I think practical, to make all six brakes on a car adjust themselves automatically for wear and for original setting, thus :- Say back axle. Pull lever loose on shaft, a spring holding this against axle tube, or rope tight in off position. SEE ORIGINAL FOR SKETCH. Is it worth a patent? Would it please Col. Rushton? It can be arranged very neatly, and enclosed in a vaseline filled enclosing chamber. It has very few extra parts, saves some elsewhere, and always keeps levers at correct angles.
