To B.J. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 452430 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG14.11.27. DELETION OF OIL HOLES AND GROOVES IN STEERING WORMS. All the original tests and the 10,000 miles tests in France were carried out on steering worms without oil holes and grooves. When the steerings came on to production there was considerable difficulty in producing free steerings. In order to help the Works over their difficulties BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} instructed that oil holes and grooves should be added to the worms. This was never standardised. All we are doing therefore, is taking off a feature which was not standardised and returning to the original standardised scheme. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
