86026 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.14/MA. 24th December, 1935. Mr. C. W. Nichols, Messrs. S. Smith & Sons, Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. Dear Nichols, Some time ago you supplied Mr. Hives with a wall type Smith electric clock which we have had installed in the office ever since. The trouble with this clock is that to set the hands or start the clock it has to be removed from the wall and it is a work of art and patience to get it back again on to the two screws behind. As our electricity supply is frequently being disconnected this operation is causing many wicked thoughts about Smith's and their wall clocks in particular!! Can you send us another wall clock to replace this one where it is not necessary to remove the clock to reset it? As it is about time I came down to see you all again regarding several matters I will try and fix up something in the New Year, possibly on Friday January 3rd. Please accept our very hearty good wishes for the New Year. Yours sincerely, | ||
