SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE.

31st December, 1935.
(Dict.30th).

H.E.West, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ld.,
DERBY.

Dear West,

Thanks for yours of the 24th December,.Ref.Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.14/MA., received when we reopened this morning, from which I am sorry to note that Mr.Hives' Clock is causing the House of Smith to be cursed - although it appears that the said curses should be directed to your local electricity supply company as your troubles are undoubtedly due to supply breakdowns.

We are, of course, able to supply you with the new self-starter design of movement but I am afraid that even this would not satisfy Mr.Hives as unless the Clock is re-set the position is likely to be even worse.

As your local electricity folk appear to be such sinners the only alternative is to give you an entirely different type of Clock. As I note we are to have the pleasure of a visit from you on Friday next may I suggest that we leave the matter over until then?

Meanwhile, heartily reciprocating your very good wishes.

Sincerely yours,

[Illegible Signature]

P.S.
Kindly let me know time of train so that I can meet you.
