X5830 to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} ORIGINAL EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}+/21/7/28. RE 12.G. 4. X5830 Barkers have asked me to visit them on Monday and " R " has agreed that I should go. I hope you will not feel that we have not put our backs into this job down here. We worked all the weekend after placing the order to get out the necessary drawings to enable Barkers to alter the body. When they had pulled off all that was not suitable for the India J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} chassis there was little left. Owing to remarks from certian quarters that I have had rather a good time in the past looking after bodies at Barkers, I would not go up and see the body when asked to do so unless I was given permission to do so. Only after Barkers have said that they will be nearly a week late have I got that permission. Mr Royce has now suggested that, if it would be of any help to you, I may come up to you on Wednesday evening to be present during the mounting of the body. If you want me you had better send a wire to him suggesting it as soon as you get this. That wil make certain of getting his definite instructions. On our scheme for the instrumant board we shew a third lamp two way switch. CWB. has now got us a Bosch one for foot operation. I do not know which we had better use. Possibly the latter would be best if you can get it in conveniently close to the clutch pedal. I will get Barkers to fit a suitable flush fitting switch in the door pillar for the spot light.
