To Mm From A.B.R. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, France. Re CHASSIS 18.G.IV. The new brake shoes and linings which were fitted on Friday, are a definite improvement. The braking under normal conditions i.e. cold, is noticeably better. When the brakes are hot, they are not quite so good as the old ones. They are very smooth in operation, do not squeak, and there is a complete absence of thump. The old brakes were thumping and we have not, since fitting the linings disturbed the poundage of the swinging arm. We have taken a simplex test between the old and the new shoes, and propose to repeat the test after covering some more miles. We will let you know the results. The axle has not developed any worse since I last mentioned it. The India Tyres have arrived and were fitted last night. A.B.R. | ||
