To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 1026 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.2/AP.28.6.37 Further to our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/AP.18.6.37, the D.O. have pointed out that whilst no difficulty exists in getting either narrow or wide mild steel bonnet rest angles on the 2" wider Bentley dashboard, it is virtually impossible to get either of these angles on the standard Bentley dashboard (owing to lack of room at the side of the dashbracket supports) without alterations to the castings etc. In view of this and the fact that it would only be possible to standardise this feature on about 150 chassis with a nett saving of £30 - £40, the scheme is not worth proceeding with - on Bentley III., however, the dashboard should have the wider bonnet rest strip and extruded aluminium angles as Wraith III.
