Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} from Sft.{Mr Swift} Sft.{Mr Swift}1/EMG.26.8.36. Re. COMPLAINTS. With reference to memo' BY.6/G.20.8.36, the facts are as under.- Item 6. Guard for the Dynamo. We note that the instruction for this job was issued to the Works on the 27.5.36. D.54842 Guard and G.54843 Cover, had to be ordered by Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}, and were delivered to the stores on the 18th and 25th July respectively. As you are aware we were closed for holidays from the 18th July to the 25th July inclusive. The parts in question were handed to No. 6 Shop on the 3rd August, after which, they had to be prepared, nickel plated and fitted to Dynamos. The latter were delivered to the engine Dept. on the 5th August, but of course a supply of Dynamos had already to be used up minus the Guards. Actually therefore, the job in question was fitted on engine G-22-M, built on the 14th August, and onwards, namely the 45th chassis on "M2" Series. Since that time 25 more engines have been so fitted. Item 7. Engine Dampers. Instructed by the Drawing Office on the 20th August, and on that date all the parts were sent back to the Machines for attention. They are now in operation, and this changeover is having our special attention. Sft.{Mr Swift} | ||
