I spoke to Mr.Bellringer this morning and he explained to me that as a large portion of his staff is now required for war work the only repairs which can be carried out are those for which the need is really very great. In addition, I am sorry to say that I was misinformed as to the mileage at which my friend's car required reboring. Instead of being 22,000, Mr. Bellringer tells me that it was 31,579, and that the rebore was carried out in May 1939, which is a rather different story. Unless in your opinion this is an abnormally small mileage you will probably no longer consider this to be a suitable car on which to carry out an experiment with a chromium plated cylinder block, but if you would like to carry on with the suggestion and can arrange for the work to be done, the owner of the car, Dr.S.S. Beare of Weybridge Park House, Weybridge, will willingly lend his car for the experiment. If you decide against carrying on, have you any objection to the thermostat being fitted to Dr. Beare's car by us, providing that you actually | ||
