Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BY X7080 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/H20.2.33. re.PHANTOM II. "O" SERIES. CONTINENTAL MODEL. SEMI-EXPANDING CARB. We were able to test the first complete car "Production" of the above - Barker close coupled saloon. On Brooklands (cut out open) lapped at 85.7 m.p.h. (Max speed 92. Min. 83) Compared standard Phantom II. (P.Series) long chassis 76 m.p.h. (no cut-out). Car ran very well, no objectionable periods, booms or"fussiness". Carburation very good - no "luffing"up or flat spots (all latest modifications carried out). Worst feature noisy suction and engine roar. Fixing of body has not improved this, but for fast driving work, this noise may appeal to the driver in a similar was as the open cut-out does. We shall have some who object to it,in which case we must be prepared to fix the silencer as now recommended for standard. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
