Large Phantom 2 Semi-Expanding Carburetter.

Referring to your report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swd15/MA6.2.33, we propose to increase the throttle diameter and the diameter around the annular choke by a corresponding amount, but keep the same induction pipe diameter.

With regard to the suction piston, we agree to cancel the suction passage operating near the throttle and rely on the suction effect in the air chamber body as on the smaller Phantom 2 semi-expanding carburetter.

This modification will allow us to shorten the air valve body as the wide groove for picking up the suction at all positions will no longer be required.

We agree to the suggested diametrical clearance for the piston of .004".

We agree to fitting the extension pipe pepper potted as we suggested, to the float chamber vent hole, and the design will be modified accordingly.

With regard to the diffuser, we will show the modifications you find successful for metering.

With regard to the slow running, we shall bring this uptodate as suggested, with the standard carburetter.

Regarding the question of the alterations for curing the luffing up trouble, there is no doubt this calls for somewhat different treatment on this carburetter, and we will look into this matter.

A modified scheme will be supplied showing all the aforementioned alterations so that these can be incorporated at the same time as the 8 litre engine in 19-EX.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
