X4306 Monel Metal.

GT/CMR/JM{Mr Morley}, Herewith I send you copy of a letter of 7th inst. ref.- from G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Weir Ltd., Cathcart, Glasgow, regarding Monel metal. The dome forging referred to in said letter is being sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} today and I shall be much obliged if he will return same to me after examination, as you will note that G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Weir Ltd. desire us to return same to them.

Upon receipt of the letter, we wrote G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Weir Ltd. as follows:-

"We are in receipt of your favour of 7th inst. and "thank you for the copy of your booklet on Monel metal "therewith enclosed.
"For some time past we have employed Monel gauze "for Petrol Strainers, with satisfactory results.
"We have also experimented with Monel metal for "other purposes and our associates, Rolls-Royce of "America Inc. Springfield, Mass. have also employed "Monel metal for certain purposes.
"The dome forging referred to in your letter has "not yet come to hand, but on arrival it will be "examined and we will write you again.
"In the meantime, we shall be much obliged if you "will send us 5 further copies of your booklet on Monel "metal, for distribution to Mr. Royce and our Technical "Staff.
"At the same time we shall be pleased to learn "whether you are merely merchanting this metal, or "whether you have secured the exclusive right to manu-"facture and sell the metal in the United Kingdom."

This morning we are in receipt of a reply, dated 10th inst as follows:-

"We have to thank you for yours of the 8th inst. "replying to ours of 7th inst. and have pleasure in "sending you herewith six copies of our Booklet, as "requested.
"We hold the exclusive rights for the manufacture "and sale of Monel metal in the United Kingdom and in "view of this fact will be pleased to advise you on "any points you may wish to know regarding the metal "and also to supply at the most favourable terms.
