R.{Sir Henry Royce}

J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} c. 29.4.15.

X.1309. X.562. X.185.

With reference to your memo R15/IB22.4.15.

Mr. Ellis reports as follows :-

"*I will put in hand at once a Carpentier trembler
"*action coil, the previous ones No.3307 and 3215
"*have evidently gone away on chassis. These were
"*reported on Nov.18th 1909 along with the Castle,
"*and if you remember they did not compare with
"*our standard coils both in regard to speed,
"*consumption (very heavy) and very noisy.

"*In regard to the separate trembler coil, I have
"*still got the one which was fitted in a smalk
"*aluminium box and a separate coil, the two which
"*were made combined have been lost or despatched by
"*the West Garage. I cannot understand why this
"*was discarded, I consider that there is no comparison
"*with any of the other coils or any other make.
"*It is fool-proof in regard to the turn of the screw on
"*any speed and not limited to a 1/8" of a turn; consumption
"*very low and regular, speed much higher and quieter,
"*splendid on the platinums.
"*Shall I rig this up with the trembler self contained
"*or make this separate as before".
