To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for Mr. Ellis. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to S. c. to Na.{Mr Nadin} +.185 R15/IB22415. April 22nd. 1915. X.562. X.1309 X.1777 X.185. In the garage at Bognor, I had occasion to work at the present trembler, and owing to the sticking of the little hinge pin through want of end clearance of the armature, I came to the conclusion that it was time we had a better scheme for this armature. I am aware that we have in hand a special means of fixing this pin, which ought to be better than the one adopted. At the same time I think it would be as well to avoid the use of this pin entirely, but I cannot at the moment think of any better scheme than the standard one used on the Carpentier trembler. Will Mr.Ellis send me a coil with this form of trembler on, I believe we have one about. The object of this is that there is no fear whatever of the hinge sticking, neither is there any fear of this joint being slack, both of which appear to be fatal to the best working of the trembler. We have also on the lines of the knife edge trembler, the little separate trembler which was made some very long time ago. I should be glad to know how the platinums last on this, and if Mr. Ellis cannot send me anything better, will he send me that to experiment with. F.H.R. | ||
