Handwritten: Wren RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/S82 Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Handwritten in red: STEADMAN Dear Sirs, Attention - Mr. C.S. Steadman. Replying to your letter of the 30th. Sept. regarding water pumps, we enclose a print showing the arrangement of the water pump incorporating a packless sealing gland. We also enclose an actual gland ring assembly, which illustrates the type of seal more clearly than a print can do. The carbon or fabric ring should seat on the rubber ring on face containing the smaller bore, and care should be taken that it does not rotate relative to the rubber. In reply to your query regarding corrosion inhibitor, we have found this preparation effective in reducing of jacket corrosion, and it has no deteriorating effect upon the hose connection in use upon our vehicles. Yours faithfully, for VAUXHALL MOTORS LIMITED. A.W. LARKING. Asst. Power Unit Engineer. | ||
