GC.291027 -C.M. 29th October, 1927. F.H.Royce Esq., "ElmsteadHenry Royce's home in West Wittering", West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, Nr. CHICHESTER. Dear Mr. Royce, I am sending enclosed herewith, two Blue Prints, shewing respectively:- (A). No.1 Size 3-phase Brake Magnet with 3" dia: Dashpot. (B). No.1 Size 3-phase Brake Magnet with 4" dia: Dashpot. You will notice that I have abandoned the method of securing the Coils by means of four Bolts and long Brass Clamps extending over three Coils. I am satisfied that such a clamping arrangement is not permissible, as we should link the Fluxes between the three Coils and through the Bolts. The method I have shewn of clamping the Coils, is one usually adopted by other makers. I should like your criticisms, as we propose to put these Brake Magnets into manufacture at once, for the Pulley Blocks. I shall be writing you at the beginning of the week, and sending you a large consignment of different samples of Insulating Material, and also half a gallon of Black Bowranite Paint for your Gates. I remain, Yours faithfully, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF ROYCE, LIMITED, [Signature] | ||
