Messrs. H.M. Hobson, Ltd.,
47-55, Acton Vale,
LONDON. W.3.

Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

With reference to your letters of the 30th. June inst. for which we thank you.

We have received the four gauge heads and will return the old gauges to you as soon as possible.

With reference to the K.S.292 tank units, (T.8208) we shall run these fittings, but we doubt if they will ever be standardised, as Mr. Royce intends to modify the tank design so that we can fit a simpler gauge and do away with the balance line.

Mr. Royce wants us to obtain from you a gauge head with the following particulars :-

(1) A slightly larger diameter gauge glass. This will reduce the length of the scale. He wants an appreciable space of glass tube left over above the scale.

(2) A reservoir at the top of the gauge glass to spill into, and a small hole to atmosphere.

(3) A longer back leg of smaller diameter with a corresponding reduction in the length of the scale.

We should be grateful to you if you would build up a gauge head of this type as soon as possible, or if you foresee some difficulties, to come and discuss the question with us as to exactly what you can make.

Contd.
