FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL SECRET. E1/M22.6.29. X7280 X5280 SS.{S. Smith} & 20HP. STARTER CARBURETTERS. We sent you a memo. - R2/M15.6.29. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} - in answer to yours on the above question, and we now attach drawings LeCs. 2728. and 2731., shewing the modifications proposed for the 20HP. and SS.{S. Smith} respectively. The main idea in each case is to limit the fixed fuel orifice so that the fuel delivery required for general winter starting conditions cannot be exceeded. Filters are included in the modifications to avoid trouble due to the fixed jets becoming stopped up. The parts of the friction locking device for the needle adjustment are common to both schemes.
