BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to SS.{S. Smith} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL SECRET. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M22.6.29. 20HP. SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIER. X5600 We send herewith N. scheme 2914. on which we have indicated some suggestions for increasing the stiffness. (1) Some sheet metal stiffeners somewhat as indicated to convey the torsion from the wheel carrier on to the engine foot which is able to resist it. Incidentally the sheet metal also stiffens the flat web of the frame. (2) Should (1) not be successful we then suggest trying the SS.{S. Smith} tubes and fittings which will go on to the same tube centres. (3) Only as a last resort experimentally trying a stay between the top of the tubes and the dashboard. We fear however this will be criticised from the point of view of appearance, and shall only send a design for it with reluctance. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
