Explaining a dynamo change was due to carbon brush wear, not a failure, and that the design flaw was corrected in later models.

In reply to your Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LGI9.9.22 when Toussaint went away with this car he had a spare dynamo. The reason he changed it was not through any failure but simply through wear of the carbon brushes. The carbon brushes fitted on the dynamo changed were longer than the armature and they wore down until the parts of them which projected, rubbed the end of the armature spindle and held the brushes off the armature. This has been, I believe, corrected in later dynamos.

The platinum points were not changed but simply adjusted.

I will let you know when I can get over to the Works. I was very disappointed to have missed you. Hope you enjoyed yourself at Skegnest.
