Complaint of noisy engine running idle. Bottom plate of chamber on carburetter found loose, but still not satisfied. The trouble is the louvred bonnet. The engine was quite up to standard and no noise would have been heard with our standard bonnet.

I was convinced that none of our tests that we do are too severe. There was a Phantom I which the owner drives all out under any conditions, with the following failures - Rear shock damper arm broken; brackets for dampers on axle broken off; brackets fitted for Hartford dampers twisted and bent all shapes; silencer almost falling off. The car generally was in a bad condition.

I received your telegram upon my late arrival here, also one from Dodd saying he is calling here on Saturday with the rest of the luggage. I have sent you the following telegram -

RECEIVED YOUR TELEGRAM AFTER RETURNING FROM PARIS STOP MEETING DODD SUNDAY WITH REST OF R LUGGAGE STOP RE CUSTOMS PAPERS TELEGRAPH WHETHER CAR WILL BE RETURNING. HANCOCK.

Re. Customs Papers. I want to know whether I have to clear the car or not. If it is returning there is no need to do so, and our papers will remain good, otherwise all formalities will have to be repeated.

I was unable to obtain K.L.G. plugs at Sevres, they only had the thin electrodes in stock.

G.W.H.
Hancock.
