84038. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/AD. October 20th, 1931. Messrs. H.M. Hobson Ltd. 47-55, The Vale, Acton, London, W.3. For the attention of Major Searight. Dear Sirs, We have tested out a new gauge for the 18 gallon petrol tank which you recently delivered to us. We find that the gauge is not quite accurate and send you herewith the calibration as checked. We appreciate that you would prefer to have a complete tank to calibrate the tank yourself but as this is not possible at the moment we should be obliged if you would send us another hand-painted mask, corrected to enable us to carry on until we have some further tanks available. One point that we noticed is that the unions at each end of the connecting pipes do not correspond. We appreciate that this is in order to make our new tank unit fit your gauge head, but it appears to us that it may give rise to confusion in view of the fact that it differs from the practice which has so far been adopted, and we should like to have your views as to whether the dashboard unit is susceptible to modification to overcome the trouble. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. Attachment. | ||
