SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. 15th October 1931. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ld, DERBY. "Attention of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Royce" Dear Sirs, ELECTRIC PETROL GAUGE. Further to your letter of the 9th October, we have carefully investigated your suggestion as regards the pointer, and are afraid it is not possible to so redesign our instrument. As a matter of fact, we have previously experimented with a geared up pointer and it was found that the Gauge was less sensitive than our standard instrument, and the amount of current consumed appreciably greater. We respectfully suggest that if you very kindly let us have one of your 20 gallon tanks, to enable us to prepare a sample instrument, we would arrange to calibrate the dial of the instrument in as open and legible manner as possible, taking care of your ideas as far as possible with a view to matching the Cambridge instrument. Awaiting your esteemed instructions and thanking you in anticipation. Yours faithfully, For S.SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LD. Chas: W. Nichols. SALES DIRECTOR. CWN/FC/HB.{C. E. Harcombe} | ||
