Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. For the Attention of Mr. Steadman, Experimental Department. Dear Sirs, Replying to your letter of the 3rd inst., reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.36/KW, we find that your Drawing E.87003 was not included and apparently has not come to hand. We have, however, your Drawings E.87003, 4 and 5 which were sent to us in June of this year, and if there have been no modifications since this date we can work to them. We regret that to make the 84 mm. Matrix required it will be necessary for us to make modifications to our experimental tools, and that we cannot expect to complete the matrix in under five or six weeks. We are putting the necessary work in hand immediately and trust that this delivery date will be in time for your requirements. Replying to the second paragraph of your letter, we have carried out preliminary tests on the radiators discussed during Mr. Steadman's visit to our Works but the results obtained could not be regarded as conclusive. Mr. Coltman who is carrying out this work is at present away on leave and does not return until the 23rd September. It would therefore be more convenient if Mr. Steadman could come to our works some time during the week commencing 23rd September while we are carrying out complete tests.
