1263 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}6/JH. 14th October, 1937. The S.U. Company Ltd., Adderley Park, Bordesley Green Road, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. Leslie Kent. Dear Sirs, We have gone into the question of nickel plating the unions and have decided that on the 30 H.P. and Bentley pumps the plating should be deleted on the screw threads and spherical face of the unions. This can be easily accomplished by dipping the parts that do not require plating in high melting point wax. On the High Pressure pump no plating is required on either the bottom plugs or unions. With regard to the fixing of the solenoid wire to the terminal on the end of the pump, are there any difficulties to prevent us adopting your standard method of fixing using a tag and lead washer? Will you please confirm this and we will then let you know as to adopting it on the High Pressure pumps. With regard to the possibility of using the standard bridge piece on the High Pressure pump, we have confirmed that it would be possible to do so without increasing the minimum working voltage and expect to get a 30% gain in the stroke of the pump which should improve the wear on the toggles and points. We have prevented any gain in the minimum working voltage by soldering a small steel plate .050" thick on the end of the magnet pot underneath the inner contact arm that is attached to the diaphragm spindle. This prevents the armature coming too | ||
