Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}...from C. C4/C27.3.39 Re JACKS. ------- With reference to the question of hand-operated jacks instead of the hydraulic jacks in position, Derby sent a car down to London today to show us these in operation, and we agree that we should substitute this hand-operated jack on the Wraith and Bentley, and consider the situation according to stocks on the Phantom. The advantages appear to be:- (a) A saving of 48 lbs. in weight. (b) A saving of about £10 in st cost. (c) Simplicity. We have had a lot of trouble with the 'jack in position' system. The brackets on the back appear to be very good and the jack is very light to operate. Similar brackets are to be fitted in the front. The whole scheme appears to be quite simple and the Works have found a convenient place under the bonnet to stow the jack. We are, of course, assuming that the Works have thoroughly tested out the reliability of this hand-operated jack. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} agrees with this. C. | ||
