Two damaged battery cells from chassis 39-TW, quoting the owner's explanation and asking whether to charge for the replacements.

re chassis 39-TW. - Geoffrey Summers Esqr.,

We have received from the above owner two Cells from the Starting Battery of this car.

We have already supplied two Cells in replacement, and we are now awaiting your report as to whether customer should be charged for these.

For your information the following is an extract from his letter.

"The casing of one is badly broken at the bottom;
"the other cracked at the top.

The breaking of the former was caused by
"accidentally dropping the battery box into place from a height
"of about 4 inches; the latter has been cracked for some time
"due to vibration in the course of ordinary running on bad roads.

"Perhaps you could agree to meet me in the matter
"of cost of repairs, at any rate to this latter cell."

We are arranging for the two Cells returned to be handed to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} by the Repair Dept., who have them at present.
