X204 To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.4/HP.4.10.32. C. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} re Bensport Blower. We send you herewith a print of LeC.3228 showing the shortened blower in conjunction with the longer engine, from which it will be seen that the nose of the blower is only just within a vertical line carried up from the rearmost edge of the radiator shutter plate. We shall endeavour to push the nose back a little further if possible, but it will be very difficult to save any more room, and in the meantime we should be glad if you would see what the possibilities are with the position shown on LeC.3228. We have only been able to reduce the blower 1" in the length as it has been necessary to slightly reduce its eccentricity for the sake of improving certain features in the design of the cage, and the sealing of the blades relative to the drum. The carburetter position shown should not be taken as final. We are hoping to move it back somewhat, but even with the position shown on the print we believe it is still well clear of the radiator.
