Notes of preliminary meeting in Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s. room to go through minutes. Friday, Nov. 25th 1932. Nov. 29th Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. Agenda No. Present - Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Rg.{Mr Rowledge} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Ry. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Chassis Items on Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. Agenda for Nov. 29th. (1) Bonnet Fastener. Less expensive type. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} says drawings will be issued to-day (Nov. 25th). Exp. Dept. will then make a sample for inspection. (2) Steering generally. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. car is now fitted with Marles Weller steering gear, and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} says the results are very good for freedom from shocks. It is possible that wear may take place more rapidly than in R.R. steering. Cadillac steering is fitted to an experimental car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} says this is lower geared and somewhat heavier in operation. Both these cars can be tried on Tuesday (Conference day). (3) Carburetter. R.R. expanding and Stromberg and S.V. patents. The first 50 carburetters will probably be considered to infringe Stromberg patents, but after that a modified design will be adapted which will not infringe. The S.V. patent position is not yet cleared. They have been written to on the subject and Mr. Skinner is in touch with his patent agent. Mr. Skinner does not want money out of the job, but wants an acknowledgment of his patent rights from R.R. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} says he believes that Mr. Skinner would like to have a plate fixed on each R.R. carburetter saying that it is made under S.V. licence. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} says that he thinks S.V. are not clear as to exactly how the R.R. carburetter is arranged, and he will see Mr. Skinner before Tuesday and endeavour to settle the question. (4) Petrol Pumps. We are still waiting to hear from the U.S.A. regarding terms of royalty. | ||
