Messrs. S.Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. Grosé.

Dear Sirs,

We have received your letter of 14th. inst., for which we thank you, and also the special thermostat to X.30065 with valve seat diameter modified to 1 1/4" dia. and opening temperature of 79°C. So far our tests indicate that this diameter valve seat is most satisfactory for our purpose. Will you, therefore, please let us have a quotation for supply of units with these modifications, in quantities of 200 and 1000.

Will you also please let us know what piece number you have allocated to this particular unit, so that we can use it for any future orders. (1 1/4" diameter seat and 79°C opening temperature).

We are glad to hear that you have reduced the "opening to full open" temperature range to 14°C on this type unit and agree that this is quite good. In fact, if you really have difficulty in reducing the range any further, it will probably be satisfactory. We do not, of course, wish to depart any further than is really necessary from your standard article.

We are returning to you, marked "For the attention of Mr.Grosé", the original unit which you sent us (standard valve seat diameter and opening temperature of 78°C. We would like converted to a 1 1/4" diameter seat valve and 78-80°C opening temperature unit, by fitting a new casing to same. We are sending you our official order for this work.
