1300 Ev {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} /IB.14/ET. 5th December, 1940. Your ref. SG {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} /SL. Messrs. BURMAN & Sons, Ltd., Ryland Road, BIRMINGHAM 15. Dear Sirs, With reference to my previous enquiry for a steering gear, contained in my letter Ev {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} /IB.8/JH. of Nov. 8th and your reply of the 12th, both the drawings you sent me have the rocker shaft on the wrong side of the steering box. As a starting point the box you have supplied for use on the Vauxhall 10 car would probably be suitable for our application, judging from a cursory examination of one of these cars and we would be prepared to put up with the smaller number of turns from lock to lock, i.e. 2 1/4 instead of the 3 originally mentioned. The position now is that we would like to be able to buy one box, if you have any suitable within a reasonable time. It would probably help matters to discuss the job personally and, as far as I am concerned it would be more convenient for me to come over to see you for this purpose. If you are agreeable to this, I can make the visit on any day to suit you, if you would care to fix a date. Yours faithfully, Reconnaissance Dept. | ||
