14 much better use of wheelbase for passenger accommodation to be obtained by "moving forward" so that the radiator front overhangs the front wheels by 10-15 inches, and the dimensions from front wheels to dash is 15-20 inches. The problem of suitable radiator shape for this forward position has been solved by Packard without throwing away their characteristic frontal appearance. Some development of this sort seems strongly indicated for R.R. 7) Suspension The only "logical" suspensions on American cars today are those on the Ford, Buick, and Oldsmobile. This because all three have front and rear ends of which the design is obviously not cramped by tradition, and which are of similar types modified only for functional reasons. Ford is characterised by a considerable degree of brake-dive control, a "soft" lateral control of the | ||
