| 9. REAR BRAKE EQUALIZER (FOOT) Indentations on needle track in actuating lever bearing G.82941. Deep indentations in fulcrum pin G.82938 and compensating lever G.83073. REAR BRAKE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT Slight indentations on roller tracks (shaft and levers) Levers badly marked by stones. Jaws have worn grooves approx. .002 deep in coupling pins. REAR BRAKES. Bracket G.82996 (bell crank levers) - indentations on roller tracks in bearing lugs and on spindles G.82961. seized Needle rollers in all bottom bearings rust pitted, no means of lubrication being provided. Actuating levers (foot and hand) - slight wear and indentations on roller tracks. Toggle shafts and bearing housings G.82980, G.82994 - slight wear and indentations on roller tracks. Toggle links - heavily scored on radial ends. REAR AXLE. General condition good. Axle shafts lightly scored on bearing section and the diff. casing bushes were pitted in the bore. Bevel pinion shows signs of fretting at large end of taper and the same applies to the driving flange. Slight wear has taken place on pinion shank due to friction of oil seal. Slight pitting on balls in bevel pinion bearing. The outer race of the pinion roller bearing R.M.9. has been creeping in the housing. The bearing housing G.81288 is worn in the bore and the outer race is now a slack fit. The centre casing is damaged due to stones. REAR SPRINGS AND FITTINGS. Front anchorage - some plucking on bearing surfaces but wear slight. Top covers loose O.S. and N.S. Rear anchorage - .002 - .004 wear on all pins at spring and dumb iron sections. Nuts F.82059 on axle bracket bolts badly damaged by stones. Coiled Bijur pipe to shackles damaged by stones. .011 end play between shackles and dumbirons. SPRINGS - Arrgt.Drg. F.86931. All leaves show wear on contact faces, particularly on main leaves. Spring gaiters are badly torn by stones. Both main leaves have taken a permanent set giving reduced free camber. | ||
