XU 613 from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}3/T9.7.30. re Phantom II & 20/25HP Chassis - Dashboard Isolation Rubbers. We first suggested in memo Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}/McM20/T7.5.30 that the new rubbers we were receiving were too hard. Since then the bolts F79208 have had to be lengthened to allow for the hard rubbers which would not compress as did the original softer ones. Furthermore, additional trouble with these hard rubbers was reported in Exll/T30.6.30 in connection with which please refer to memos Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL2/MJ1.7.30 and By/EM5/J2.7.30. On the 4th inst. you agreed, to enable us to carry on temporarily & to our making up and using sets of rubbers as per the sample we submitted to you on that day. We have now used practically all the sets we can make up from our stocks of soft type rubbers, and we now require to know please - (a) When satisfactory supplies of the hard rubbers will be available for fitting. (b) Can we in the meantime despatch chassis less these parts - presumably this procedure will inconvenience the Coachbuilders. [STAMP: RECEIVED 8 JUL 1930] | ||
