REPORT ON VISIT TO PARD WARDS - RE: 1-B-5.

We visited Messrs. Park Wards on Friday last, October 15th, to pass the full size drawing of the body and dummy chassis for the first Bentley 111, 1-B-5.

Although complete designs were issued to them on September 22nd 1937 and a full specification, we were surprised to find that the full size drawing was only in a state of partial completion. They could offer no very real excuse for such slow progress, and we could only assume that the job had been allowed to make slow progress through lack of interest. In view of this, we propose to progress the work ourselves by more frequent visits.

They have promised to have the full size drawing completed by about Wednesday, October 20th 1937, and in the meantime will be roughing out the timbers for the dummy chassis and the patterns for the body. We shall call on them on that date.

With respect to the matter of delivery, they admit the loss of time on the drawing will make the date of December 18th 1937 impossible. We extracted from them a definite date of January 7th 1938, and this we shall have confirmed by them in writing.

They say that, due to the slump, they are short handed, and have to work short hours, and this makes it difficult for them to accelerate the work when it gets into the factory.

As instructed by telegram and telephone we are going ahead with the body and chassis as originally projected on PD.7 and PD.14.

We attach herewith a copy of our letter to Messrs. Park Wards confirming our visit.
