R.{Sir Henry Royce} ENGINES FOR MISS ENGLAND II. R.19. R.19 has now been passed off test after reconditioning for Detroit. Apart from a few new piston rings and valve springs, there are no new parts fitted. The engine was tested on our new fuel 20/70/10 Aviation/Benzol/Methanol + 4 ccs T.E.L./gallon, the power was At 2850 R.P.M. 1832 C/BHP. At 3000 R.P.M. 1932 C/BHP. (R.17 gave 1912 C/BHP. When finalled off prior to Lake Garda trials the powers on our old fuel were :- At 2850 R.P.M. 1754 C/BHP. At 3000 R.P.M. 1840 C/BHP. The mixture control is locked to give .628 pts/HP/Hr. at 2850 and .629 pts/HP/Hr. at 3000 R.P.M. Slow running is set at 700 R.P.M. Gas starter is O.K.
