HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 200a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}10/JH.9.11.37. B-24 Unit (6.B.IV). Whilst the car is in the shop being fitted with the overdrive gearbox will you please remove the unit, dismantle and re-assemble to the following specification. (1) New centricast AC.6 main bearings to be fitted, giving clearance limits, interference fits etc. in accordance with the latest drawings. (2) Camshaft to EB.3240 to be fitted. (3) Cylinder head to have .050 machined off the joint face. Capacity when checked after machining should be 108 ccs. (4) Fit .032 thickness Klingerite cylinder head gasket which Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} will supply. (5) Big end bearings in centricast A.C.6 material if available at time of assembly. To be fitted later if not ready. Like the main bearings the clearance and interference fits should confirm with latest drawings. Both main and big end bearings should give correct Brinell after final heat treat. (68-78). (6) Fit std. top valve spring washers throughout E.88709. (7) Fit new valve grummets to EB.1784 but made with 3" asbestos string. Dry weight before waxing to be 1.2 - 1.3 grains. (8) Crack test inlet and exhaust valves. We should like a record of what wear slackness or distortion has taken place on existing main and big end bearings, also crankshaft before new bearings are fitted.
