1021 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}12/JH. 15th June, 1938. Messrs. Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473 High Road, Willesden. LONDON.N.W.10. For the attention of Mr. Thompson. Dear Sirs, We are returning the front wings today which you intend using for rig purposes. There are several points which we should like you to check over when the wings are mounted and checked to blue print. (1) The N.S. wing is 3/8" wide and the side of the wing is not square. The O.S. wing is 3/8" wide and also not in line. (2) The nose of the O.S. wing is a bad shape and does not match up with the N.S. due to this difference, the O.S. wing is 1/4" long in tyre to wing clearance. Another point we should like you to watch is that the tyre well should be made to suit 6.50 x 17 tyres, the wells on all our cars we feel sure were made for 7 x 17 tyres as originally specified. We thank you for the mastic which arrived safely, an official order for this will follow. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
