HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 7230 BY6/G.3.2.31. EXHAUST PIPES. ---------------- [Green circular stamp: RECEIVED with a clock face] I have had an instance on test of an exhaust pipe between the engine and the main silencer, which fell to pieces due to crystal growth and intercrystalline corrosion when it was taken from a car and put into a vice to produce the improved sliding joint before despatch. I suggest we dismantle one or two P.ll. exhaust systems to check whether your chassis show this weakness, not, of course, from the point of view of chasing you, but to check whether the original material supplied did not exhibit the failure. Mr. Marriott will be able to show you the fault which appears to be a really serious issue at the moment, and your help on the lines indicated above would be appreciated. BY.{R.W.
