Hydraulic Jacks on Chassis GZU-24. Replying to C8/C.21.1.35 and C.10/C.16.1.35. We have of course tested Jackall Jacks on hills to see if the car could easily slide off. They passed this test very successfully. In any event, the hand brake would be left on so that if the car did fall off the Jacks it would not run away down the hill. Our main concern at the moment is the durability of the piping under Continental conditions, and the effect of the weight of the Jacks on the steering of the cars. With a view to getting this information they have been fitted to 5-B-IV, as this is the next car which is going on to the Continent. It is not suggested that these Jacks should ever be standardised on the Bentley; they are being fitted to this car merely to gain experience.
