L.H. P.2. POSITION OF PETROL FILTER.
We send herewith LeC. 2801. shewing the petrol filter moved to the other side of the chassis.
It is now located in the clear space existing under-neath the autovac, somewhat higher than its old position. We do not think however this higher position matters as there is still the same resultant head made up of suction plus pressure head for overcoming the resistance of the filter to the flow of fuel under optimum conditions.
The one thing we are anxious about is that there shall be no question of air locks, and for this not to be so the initial petrol head above the mouth of the pipe in the autovac tank should be greater than the final petrol head likely to be encountered at the float chamber end of the line, so that the column of air in between leaves two heads which will definitely move towards the float chamber and escape therefrom.
