1109 S/W. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Snow Chains for all Chassis. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}2/R23.3.37. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW24.3.37. Having now heard from the Parsons Chain Company that they will be able to supply chains to the proposed design to any customers who specify "Special Rolls-Royce Type", it would seem now that our course is clear to write to those P.III owners to whom we have recently sent a communication on this question, informing them of the type of chain that should now be used on the P.III. As regards the paragraph you will now insert in the Instruction Books correcting the existing statements and putting in the reference to the "Special Rolls-Royce Type", it would be wiser perhaps to infer in the Instruction Book that if orders for these are sent to Rolls-Royce Ltd they would then be able to ensure the supply of the correct type. It seems best that we should direct the orders through our own channels, not only because it would be profitable to do so, but it would guard against the wrong type of chain being supplied through some oversight on the part of the manufacturers' staff. It does not seem to me to be necessary that we should carry a big stock of chains if Parsons are always in a position to supply to our order. Also, with the coming of the end of the Winter (we hope) there will not be any immediate demand for these and therefore no need for us to obtain an immediate stock.
