664 To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/JH.23.2.39. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. car (Wraith III). In accordance with the memo. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/R.20.2.39. will you please prepare the following for fitting to the above chassis. (1) EB.3466 camshaft. (2) No.1, 3 and 5 pistons EB.4587 which Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTs.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} will supply. No.2, 4 and 6 pistons EW.2121 (R.R. split skirt) The above are raised crown pistons which give a compression ratio of 6.5 : 1. (3) Klingerit cylinder head gasket which Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} will supply. (4) New cylinder block to be fitted with short inserts as follows. No.1 and 2 standard bores (no inserts Nos. 3 & 4 (Mark A.101 alloy) std. material in short liner form. No. 5 & 6 (Mark A.105 alloy) Ditto material with covered chills. The above alloy references are in accordance with the memo. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/Vs.{J. Vickers} It is necessary to standard bore dimensions as there are no raised crown pistons available for oversize cylinder bores. As stated in the memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTs.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}3/R.21.2.39. a number of cars are to be prepared with special in erts fitted in the blocks and various types of pistons as allocated for this car.
