(2) (8) Mr. Royce instructs that the L.T. wire from the dash to the wiring tube should have a terminal on the dash to allow of wiring, and valve gear cover removal. I believe something has been done in this respect in Derby. (9) Mr. Royce suggests that the ballast resistance might be put on the dash if we have to move the coil, and this would provide the necessary terminal, for (8). [Handwritten 'feed' above 'the necessary terminal'] (10) The vacuum/tank has to be removed for the purpose of removing the cylinder head, to allow of the 2 rear valve pusher rods being withdrawn. Mr. Royce sees no objection to removing the tank for this reason, and for providing more accessibility for working at the head. [Handwritten 'feed' above 'vacuum/tank'] (11) Mr. Royce instructs that the wires and grooves be cancelled on the top valve gear cover nuts. (12) Spanners do not fit valve tappet lock nuts - use thick nuts for locking the valve tappet adjustment and hardened hexagons. (13) Referring to the battery ignition the screw which secures the bent piece of sheet metal which serves as a nut for the L.T. rocker spring clamping screw should always remain tight and never be undone. Mr. Royce suggests it might be riveted up in some way. (14) The feature on the L.T. rocker post which protrudes through the hole in the retaining spring is considered by Mr. Royce to be much too high. He thinks the height might be reduced by 2/3rds. (15) The bolt on the steering box near to the petrol filter should be put round the other way with it's head pointing towards the carburetter, to allow the petrol filter to be withdrawn. | ||
