Description: THERMOID FACING ON CLUTCH PLATE. (CLUTCH PLATE UNALTERED).

Purpose: To eliminate jaggers, improve smoothness, and reduce rate of wear.

Mileage on experimental cars -
3.B.IV. 3943.
6.B.IV. 4977.
B.23.AE.7586.
Also tested on 2 production chassis by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}
and smaller mileages on others, total over 17,000. All smooth takeup. No jaggers.
Also on several customers cars to cure complaints including considerable mileage by Raymond Mays.

NOTE. - There is no risk of slip so long as thrust springs are up to standard (150 lbs) arrangements are being made to enable Depots to check this.

Cost of Tools £ 0.0.0.

In the changeover it will be necessary for Depots to have equipment for the purpose of testing clutch pressures which will Cost approximately £32.0.0d. per set. The object of this equipment is to ensure that clutch spring loads are up to Standard in order to obviate the possibility of clutch slip with the new linings.

A quantity of some 45 stock clutch plates have been despatched to Messrs. Borg & Beck for conversion to Thermoid facings at a cost of 5/6d. each. When these are available it will be possible to commence fitting to Production Chassis.
