X.2641. RE. ATTENTION TO DASHBOARD AND STARTER SWITCH.

With reference to our early complaints on the above, in which we pointed out that we had several failures due to "earthing", we still do not feel happy in this respect, and are having occasional failures. We feel that the clearance between the live portion of the switch and the body is insufficient, and likely to give trouble after the switch has been in use for some time.

This switch has to stand a certain amount of rough use, as it is invariably worked by means of the driver's foot, and the wood which is used between the actual button and the switch lever itself is considerably affected with use, allowing the clearance which originally existed in the newswitch to be lost, and the switch to "earth" as above described.

We think it very necessary that further clearance should be arranged on this switch, as although we may be able to send the cars out satisfactory, we do not think they will remain so for very long.

We shall be glad to make further demonstrations of this weakness to Ck{Mr Clark}, and should be glad if he could get in touch with our Mr. Wyer.
