X4264 To hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /21.12.21. X.4264 - GOSHAWK 11. STEERING COLUMN. Mr. Royce wishes you to try whether the steering colum with the strengthened tube could be steadied off the top of the dash by a long bracket as shewn in the sketch below. This bracket could be made of bent iron or any such material, for the purpose of testing the suitability of the idea. We are also contemplating steadying the column off the instrument board and we shall shortly send you drawings for this, but in the meanwhile we should like information as to efficacy of steadying off the dash. In both these cases it is considered that the dash must be very well held, and we shall shortly send you a scheme by which it is held by brackets on both sides.
